Brian French Request

Dear Jesuit Rugby Friends & Families,
As some of you may know one of the Jesuit Rugby program’s biggest supporters and dearest friends, Vern McCarthy, has run into a bit of bad luck regarding his health. Vern, who up until recently has been active in the Jesuit Rugby program since its inception, fell and broke a rib on March 23rd and has since stopped driving. Like so many of us, while playing rugby at Jesuit I was lucky enough to build lasting friendships with many of the players, coaches and supporters, among them was Vern. Whether it be a kind word or a friendly smile, Vern always went out of his way to be supportive and to show how much he cared about our successes. It is because of people like Vern that the Jesuit Rugby program has built such a strong foundation and become one of the preeminent high school rugby programs in North America. With that being said a few of us thought it would be a cool idea to get as many people from the past and present Jesuit teams (players, friends, and family members) who have shared memories with Vern to put together a book filled with stories and expressions about what Vern has meant to them personally and how Vern has contributed positively in their lives.

The ultimate goal would be to get as many individuals to participate by writing down their experiences with Vern and submitting them via email to brianfrench18 [at] yahoo [dot] com where they will be collected and bound to present to Vern on his 80th Birthday at the end of October. I hope that we can all respond and get as many people as possible to make this a lasting gift and something Vern will really cherish. Now is an opportunity to be men for others and show some support for an important member of the Jesuit Rugby family.

Kind regards,
