Regis University
To the Jesuit Rugby Club:
I enjoyed the opportunity to speak to your club last year at Nationals. Since then, I've received quite a bit of interest from some Jesuit players. I wanted to send an update about Regis University's rugby program, and invite the rest of your team to find out more about us. Regis is a Jesuit University competing in Division II in Denver, Colorado. When you're not studying or playing rugby, you're less than an hour from world class skiing, hiking, biking and other outdoor sports.
In 2003, we were ranked ninth in the West, and we're obviously looking to improve on that this year. This February, we play one final qualifying match to determine if we go to the Western tournament in April. A key to the club's continued development is the contribution from players who bring high school experience to Regis. The club is committed to its winning tradition and building the skills of all players, whether they have played their whole life, or only have one semester of experience. Each year since inception, the club has grown in skills and ability, and we have become one of the strongest clubs in Colorado.
Personally, my goal is to help each player achieve his greatest potential on and off the field. I have played select side rugby domestically, as well as having played overseas. I bring an international perspective to the game, and encourage and assist with my players going overseas for a semester or year to broaden their rugby experience. Those players that head overseas bring back an added level of intensity and ability to the club.
Past players from the club have gone on to play for SuperLeague teams in Dallas, Denver and San Francisco. Others have continued their playing days with men's clubs either in Denver or where their careers have taken them. Information regarding the club can be found at http://www.regis.edu/regis.asp?sctn=ath&p1=crby.
Regis is a small (1300 undergraduate enrollment) university in Denver, Colorado. Academics, activities, and a low student-faculty ratio combine to create an incredible learning environment in the rarefied air of the mountains. There is a broad choice of majors, classes and degrees available at Regis, and the school has been recognized for the past eight years by US News and World Report as a top school in the West. More information can be found by clicking the prospective students link at http://www.regis.edu.
Thank you for your time and consideration. If you would like to be part of the ongoing success of the Regis rugby club, send me an email at rugby [at] regis [dot] edu, or call me at (303)471-4070. Don't hesitate to contact me directly to discuss the club's philosophy, playing style and available scholarships.
In rugby,
Dan Hattrup
